My room of my own is a fold down front desk (I know that’s not the right name for it) that belonged to my grandmother and which sits in a corner of my bedroom and fits my laptop perfectly.

Cluttering the desk are my camera, a candle, a bulletin board of inspirational pictures and phrases (that vision map thing), a lamp, and cubbyholes stuffed with envelopes and little books.

This little space is far from spacious, but when I sit down to write, it becomes the center of the universe and I am able to write here, for which I am grateful and for that reason it feels magical!

That you have a room of your own is IMO a VERY big deal .. I have a corner of the livingroom ... and my desk is a piece of wood the Husband is going to make into a desk any day now .. he put C clamps on it temporarily in '98 .. really .. Your post ignited a flame in my head, a burning desire i didn’t even know I had. I WANT so so very much a room of my own, I had no idea! A place with my things my photos that are packed away in boxes, my music, my lighting, oh my gods, MINE. The closest thing I have to that is my car which is usually full of children and trash, or maybe my office which has an open door and lots of people walking by. Thank you for alerting me to this need, I’m flippant but so serious too! A ROOM ALL OF MY OWN – sigh.
