Inkblot

First, I saw this idea at Flutter’s, and she got it from Chani. And then I saw it at Slouching Mom and at Kyla’s blog, The Journey (a new find for me), too.

Even though most of us get very personal on our blogs, there’s little chance (outside of meeting in real life) to see the more sensory or tangible parts of our personalities–the sound of a voice or a laugh, or one’s handwriting.

I love this idea and couldn’t resist joining in. I’m hoping all of you will try this, too. Link back here, if you would, please, and let me know when you post. I’ll add your link here, to this post. (Ducky, don’t think you can get out of this.)

I decided I had to choose a poem, a quote or my grocery list (but then I looked at my grocery list and thought no way. The Cheetos are for my daughter, I swear.).

In the end, I chose a poem, Never-Never by Marge Piercy. (Click each page to enlarge, then click image once more for largest size, which is easiest to read.)

I successfully twisted the arms of these magnificent people:

Brian at The Cheek of God

we_be_toys at Tapdancing On the Edge of Reason

Kate at Listen to me now…Believe me later

Catnip at Catnip and Coffee

Gwen at Woman On the Verge

Magpie at Magpie Musing

  1. Good God, woman! Your writing looks like it could easily adorn a wedding invitation! You have the most elegant and old-fashioned writing I’ve seen in some time.

  2. And scan it in with what?

  3. yours is so elegant, and victorian!

  4. That’s lovely, the poem and the handwriting. And you’re right; very personal.

I type everything and my handwriting bears witness to that.

    Very elegant.

    I guess I have to do this now . . .

  7. So beautiful. Penmanship and poem.

I posted a few pages from my journal recently, but it was not zoomed in. I don’t know if anyone will be able to make out my hieroglyphics :-P

  9. What a wonderful idea! I’m going away for a few days but will try and remember to look at it properly and do it when I get back.
Which brings me to why I visited at this ungodly hour (it’s 3.20am!)…

Obviously come over when you like, but…
If you get near a computer on Tuesday 5th, have a look at my post because there’ll be an award for you. I’ll be away too so it’s a scheduled post for 1am Tuesday (my time zone!)

  20. Very elegant handwriting, Jennifer. But then again, what are the odds?

As I’m looking at this, I wonder: how difficult would it be to scan one’s handwriting and have custom fonts? Your blog could be published regularly in your own handwriting? Hmmm. Might be a ten dollar idea post. I’ll have to mull this over some more.

  25. So, how does this work? You just write something and scan it, then post it? I’ll bite, but not until I get back from vacation; I didn’t bring my scanner with me…. ; )

  26. Yeah…when my scanner starts working like it’s supposed to. But until then…?

  27. Oh, I loved this poem, Jennifer. And you have handwriting that virtually glides across the page…

If I did it, everyone would think of me from then on as …stumpy. And that’s how bad my handwriting is.
